About NH Young Adult Advisory Council

The New Hampshire (NH) Young Adult Advisory Council (YAAC) is an organization for young adults aged 18-29 from NH working to find preventative solutions for issues related to mental health, substance misuse, and suicide. Members develop leadership and professional skills, network with peers, lead trainings on life skills, and build community.

The NH YAAC is an important part of the Young Adult Strategies (YAS) grant program, with the goal to prevent substance use and suicide, and to promote mental health and wellbeing among young adults across New Hampshire

Led by the Strafford County Public Health Network and other partners across NH, the YAS grant program is funded by the NH Department of Health and Human Services

2025 Impact

A Snapshot of NH’s Young Adult Advisory Council

YAAC hosted trainings to educate young adults in NH about:

  • stress management

  • healthy relationships

  • goal setting

  • communication skills

  • how to support others who may be struggling with their mental health

  • suicide prevention

In 2024/25, Young Adult Advisory Council Members provided 270 hours of service in 9 months.

Their service included planning, hosting trainings, attending outreach events, creating content, messaging, materials and more!

YAAC Members hosted a table at the 2024 Portsmouth Pride event.
